About California AB 1200
At De’Longhi Group, we strive to comply with all laws applicable to our products. California’s AB 1200 requires manufacturers of listed cookware to make certain disclosures about their products based on whether certain chemicals are intentionally added to the products’ food contact components and handles.
What are the requirements of California AB 1200?
The cookware disclosure requirement of California AB 1200 is found in the California Health & Safety Code beginning in Section 109010. As of January 1, 2024, manufacturers of cookware sold in the state containing one or more intentionally added chemicals from a designated list of chemicals are required to identify those chemicals on the product label. This law also requires, beginning January 1, 2023, cookware manufacturers to identify such chemicals on its website.
“Cookware” means items used to prepare, dispense, or store food, foodstuffs, or beverages: pot, pans, skillets, grills, baking sheets, baking molds, trays, bowls and cooking utensils.
“Intentionally added” means that the manufacturer has intentionally added the chemical to the product and the chemical has a functional or technical effect in the product.
The tables in this web page identify the cookware for which the website disclosure is required.
Food Safety of De’Longhi Group Products
At De’Longhi Group, we take product safety very seriously. We have no reason to believe that any of our products present a health risk. The cookware products identified here comply with relevant limits and rules established by the federal Food and Drug Administration, including the relevant requirements of Title 21 of the Code of Federal Regulations governing the safe use of product parts in direct contact with food.
Other USA States
De’Longhi Group is monitoring also other USA States requirements related to Chemicals disclosure, at our current status of knowledge they are mainly related to the disclosure about the presence of PFAS in products and the reason why they are used.
Why some PFAS Chemicals are Intentionally Added?
Perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances are a class of fluorinated organic chemicals
containing at least one fully fluorinated carbon atom. This definition includes more than 10000 different substances, a broad variety of chemicals, including also fluoropolymers.
De’Longhi Group is using fluoropolymers due to their unique combination of proprieties, e.g. non-stick, self-lubricating, resistance to high temperature and high pressure, durability, good heat conductivity, high resistance to abrasion and to friction, in order to guarantee high performance, durability and functionality of our products.
Fluoropolymers intentionally used by De’Longhi Group have been selected and manufactured in
compliance with applicable legislations and restrictions on classified chemicals: e.g. all high performance fluoropolymers, such as PTFE coating and FKM rubbers, do not intentionally contain PFOA or PFOS.
