Beautifully tender beef and onion simmered in a deliciously sweet sauce. Best served with deliciously fluffy rice. The perfect midweek flavoursome kick, this recipe can be rustled up in less than an hour.

Method

For the gyu don:

  1. Take beef belly block from the freezer and leave room temperature for 30mins.
  2. Set 4mm slicing disk onto Kenwood MultiPro Express and slice the onion.
  3. Set extra-fine grating disk onto Kenwood MultiPro Express and grate ginger.
  4. Set 2mm slicing disk onto Kenwood MultiPro Express and slice beef belly.
  5. Place ingredients into the pot and add ginger and onion. Bring to the boil.
  6. Add sliced beef belly and stir gentry. Keep cook in middle heat for 20mins.

To serve:

  1. Pour cooked rice into a donburi bowl and place stewed beef onto the rice.
  2. Garnish with beni shoga and chives.
