In Hindu tradition, Lord Ganesha’s favourite sweet is ladoo. On this auspicious day, it'd be perfect to make this simple hassle-free and delicious ladoo that everyone can enjoy. It’s ready in a few mins and made using mostly store-cupboard ingredients. Also great for gifting, can make ahead and store it.

Method

  1. Add the dates into your Kenwood food processor and blitz a few times. Set aside
  2. Add the rest of the dry fruits and blitz, don’t powder it. You need a bit of a crunch when you bite.
  3. Heat ghee onto a nonstick pan, add the dates and fry on low flame for 3 to 4 mins until they become mushy. You can use a masher if you like.
  4. In the same pan, add the dry fruits and fry on low flame for 2 to 3 mins until aromatic.
  5. Add the dates mixture to a large bowl, add the dry fruits mixture too and let it cool a bit.
  6. While the dates and dry fruits are cooling down, remove the seeds from the cardamom seeds and, using a pestle and motor, grind the seeds into a powder, and add it to the rest of the mixture.
  7. Now when it’s a little cool but still warm, take about 1 tbsp of the mixture and form ladoos or balls.
  8. These ladoos can be kept in air-tight containers for up to a week. Enjoy.
